About
A communications strategist by trade, a curious question-asker by nature.
Why Saltmark
Salt lingers.
It seasons, preserves, and leaves its mark. It carries symbolic weight in scripture and staying power in language. It shapes landscapes, signals effort, and reminds us that small things can have lasting influence.
Saltmark was chosen to reflect the kind of work this practice seeks to do: thoughtful, purposeful, and enduring.
Not every challenge requires a new strategy. Sometimes it requires clearer thinking, better questions, and a trusted partner willing to help make sense of complexity.
That is the work of Saltmark.
Meet Kate Dabbs
I studied English and political science at Furman University, two disciplines rooted in language, structure, and interpretation. While my career has taken me across sectors and organizations, a common thread has remained: helping people make sense of complex ideas and communicate them effectively.
Over the past two decades, I’ve worked alongside nonprofits, foundations, educational institutions, faith communities, political campaigns, real estate organizations, and mission-driven businesses. I’ve served in communications, fundraising, marketing, and leadership roles, often finding myself at the intersection of strategy, messaging, and organizational priorities.
Many of the organizations I’ve supported arrived through referrals and long-standing relationships. I consider that one of the greatest compliments of my work.
Today, through Saltmark, I partner with leaders and organizations navigating growth, change, and opportunity. Some engagements begin with a website, a communications challenge, or a strategic initiative. Others start with a conversation. In either case, the goal is the same: helping organizations find clarity, communicate effectively, and move important work forward.

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me with my husband and two children, exploring the outdoors, reading, serving in my church community, or pursuing one of many half-finished ideas.
Let’s Talk
Saltmark works with a limited number of organizations and leaders each year in order to stay close to the work and provide thoughtful, senior-level partnership.
